Welcome to West Bridgford Model Car Club

Welcome

Welcome to West bridgford model car club. West bridgford model car club are based in West bridgford, Nottingham and we currently cater for all classes of electric radio controlled car racing. Primarily we race indoors during the winter on one of the largest carpet tracks in the region. During the summer we move outside, and, weather permitting, race on a smooth tarmac surface and also a multi-surface offroad track at the same venue. Our club events and Sunday series are held at West Bridgford comprehensive school which is only half an hours drive from the M1 motorway.

At WBMCC we welcome newcomers to the sport and our members are always willing to help new people, with their advanced knowledge of the sport of radio controlled car racing, to become better and more confident drivers. Our club has groomed a few newcomers to RC racing to become some of the top drivers in the country, including the current IFMAR Electric scale touring car world champion.

As a club we have seen our membership grow over the years and we also have a dedicated commitee who always strive to keep the club going onwards and upwards.
Club features:

  • One of the largest carpet tracks in the country
  • Tuck shop
  • RC Timing race counting system
  • AMB Digital Transponder system
  • Innovative track layout system
  • BRCA Affiliated club
  • Friendly membership

The final results of Series 3 have been updated.  Due to a loss of results for one of the rounds of the championship we had a disscussion at the club on friday night and the drivers attending decided that they wanted to cut the championship down to 4 instead of 5 rounds to count. We have introduced some rule changes to keep the racing competitive and in response to some requests from club members.

A full list of the rules for each class is available in the Racing section of the website, but a summary of the changes for each class is as follows:

  • Off-road – we will split the 2WD & 4WD results (but retain mixed heats)
  • Mini – 27T brushed/13.5 brushless motor limit, standard kit gearbox only, friction shocks only, “R” chassis cars are not permitted, no ball diffs allowed
  • Stock touring – no rule changes
  • Outlaw – no rule changes, but this will now be recognised as a formal championship.

BRCA membership

The BRCA membership post i put out before christmas was slightly wrong and in fact 2009 BRCA membership expired on the 31st of December 2009 and not the 31st of January as stated.  Paul Nutten, Wbmcc secretary has sent an e-mail out to all the members he has e-mail addresses for. but for those of you who haven't recieved it, it reads as follows:-

Hi everyone & Happy New Year to you all.

The purpose of this email is to inform you about the requirements for BRCA membership for all drivers racing at WBMCC in 2010.

All 2009 BRCA licenses have now expired. Therefore, unless you have re-joined the BRCA for 2010, you are no longer insured against injury to 3rd parties in the event of an accident involving your RC car at a BRCA sanctioned event. Given that WBMCC is affiliated to the BRCA, we require all drivers racing at the club to be BRCA members. Therefore if you have not yet joined the BRCA for 2010 through WBMCC, through another club or as an individual, then with immediate effect we require you to provide your £13 BRCA membership fee before you will be permitted to race at WBMCC in 2010. We will then enroll you in the BRCA and provide you with your membership card. You will need to pay your BRCA membership fee before the start of the WBMCC meeting at which you intend to race.

In summary, no BRCA membership = no racing at WBMCC.

Your £13 WBMCC club membership is separate to the BRCA membership. Until this is received, you will be required to pay the Non-member race fee, which is now £6 for 2010 compared to the Racing Member race fee which is now only £3 for 2010.

I hope this is clear for you all, if you have any questions, please let me know by reply. Please also inform your friends so that everyone is aware of these requirements.

Paul Nutten

WBMCC Secretary.

21.12.09 - End of series 2 results updated + Membership renewal

Series 2 has now ended and congratulations to our new champions, Adam Crossland in Outlaw, Paul Nutten in off-road, Chris Gresham in Mini and Richard Smith in Stock.

Series 3 will start on January 8th.  Same classes but now 2wd and 4wd off-road vehicles will be seperated out into championships.

On the 31st of January your club membership will expire, including your BRCA membership.  It is therefore important to get your membership renewed before this date.  A membership form is availiable to downloadfrom this website.  Just click on the about the club link on the main menu and navigate to the becoming a member page.

Remember it is important that you renew your BRCA membership before you can race at the club, the three races before you have to provide proof of insurance only applies to newcomers to the sport so you have to have applied for BRCA membership renewal before you can race at the club.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all our members.
